Table 1 Handling of data frames by ports with various TAG identifiers
| Direction | Data frame type | Processing method | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tag aware | Access | Hybird | ||
| Incoming Port | VLAN-tagged frames | Pass-through | Discard | Pass-through |
| Frames without VLAN tags | Discard | Pass-through after adding a VLAN tag containing the "Default VLAN ID" and "VLAN Priority". | ||
| Outgoing ports | VLAN-tagged frames | Pass-through | Sending after stripping VLAN tag |
|
- Port attribute value is PE or UNI.
- Ingress detection is enabled. When the Ethernet switching board operates in the Ethernet pass-through state, the port transmits transparently regardless of whether the incoming data frames carry VLAN tags or not because ingress detection is disabled.
- If you are sure that the packets sent out by the docking device must carry VLAN Tag, you can set it to Tag Aware.
- If you are sure that the packets sent out by the docking device must not carry VLAN Tag, you can set it to Access mode.
- If you are not sure whether the packets sent out by the docking device carry a VLAN Tag, you can set it to Hybrid mode.
When a data frame enters or leaves a port on an Ethernet single board, the TAG attribute of the port will affect how the port handles the data frame.
There are three types of Tag identifications for Ethernet single board ports: Tag Aware, Access and Hybrid.
Setting the TAG identification is meaningful only when the following 2 conditions are met.
Metro1000 Ethernet service According to the characteristics of Tag Aware, Access and Hybrid, we can determine the setting principle of port TAG mark.
