Many Optix Metro2500 devices on the current network have a subrack model SS6K2 (backplane model SS62AFB), and this type of subrack is generally not available in the spare parts inventory during normal maintenance, only the fully-replaced SS6K8 type 2500+ subrack (motherboard model SS63AFB). So what are the issues to be aware of when replacing the 2500+ subframe (from SS62AFB to SS63AFB).

Cause analysis

1, the old cabinet SS6K2 2500 + subracks used to be 03PBS, with the shipment of 62AFB. now the shipment of 04PBS with the shipment of 63AFB, and spare parts inventory is now only 63AFB.

2. In the case of 03PBS+63AFB, the cable BOM requested should be 04011766 (internal set of cables-OptiX 2500+-expansion power supply and monitoring cable internal set-03PBS+63AFB)

3、In case of 04PBS+62AFB, the requested cable BOM should be 04011331 (internal set of cables-OptiX-2500+ internal set of cables for Type II cabinets 2500+ corresponding to the old sub-frame (62AFB))

4.The structure of 03PBS power box is as follows:

J17, J18: lead to the upper subrack power supply

J19, J20: Lead to lower subrack power supply

PMU and sub-frame communication interface: J6, J7, generally J6 corresponds to the upper sub-frame, J7 corresponds to the lower sub-frame.

Recommendation Summary

Some issues to be noted when replacing SS6K2 2500+ subrack (backplane model SS62AFB) with SS6K8 2500+ subrack (backplane model SS63AFB) are as follows:

1. The power connector on the SS62AFB backplane is of a different model than the power connector on the SS63AFB backplane, and the corresponding power cord is of a different model. one of the two power cords on the SS62AFB model backplane has an alarm cord integrated into it, whereas the 2 power cords and the alarm cord on the SS63AFB backplane are 3 separate cords.

3. The fan that comes with the SS6K8 2500+ subrack is the SS6E2FAN with five small fans (BOM: 02120107, Description: Fan Box - OptiX 2500+ - SS6E2FAN - Cabinet Fan Box), while the fan that comes with the SS6K2 2500+ subrack is the SS3E1FAN with three small fans (BOM: 02120054, Description: Fan Box | Distribution Box - OptiX 2500-SS3E1FAN - Cabinet Fan Box). The new fan SS6E2FAN is a little deeper than the old fan SS3E1FAN, so when removing the old fan SS3E1FAN to install the new fan SS6E2FAN, you have to remove the iron shelf at the bottom of the cabinet used for racking the fibers, or else the lugs on the front of the new fan won't be able to be fixed as they protrude by about 4cm. 4, if you replace the SS6K8 type 2500 + sub-frame and still use the original old fan SS3E1FAN, it will lead to the new sub-frame of the side of the open front door due to the old fan edge of the block and can not be closed, you can only remove the side of the open front door, and due to the old sub-frame of the front door is from the top to the bottom of the cover, so there is no problem of not closing.
