Problem Description
The customer configured PW E-LINE service on a newly built OSN1500 device, and the network management reported that the related resources are exhausted with error code 43541, see attachment. The network element version is V2R11C00SPC300 (5.21.31.38).
Alarm message
QoS-related resources have been exhausted, error code 43541
The QoS-related resources have been exhausted,error code:43541
Processing
Reduce the range or number of VLANS on the OSN1500 network element to ensure that the total number of VLANS occupied by the VUNI ports of all services is less than 7102.
Since the customer needs to realize pass-through for all VLAN services on port 6-R1PEFS8-1, it is recommended that the customer modify the VLAN configuration to empty after going up to enable DCN on the port, so that only one record is actually occupied in the cache, which reduces the total number of VLANs, and thus the service configuration is normal.
Root Cause
The total number of VLANs cannot exceed 7K entries due to the limitations of the chip cache specifications used by PCXLN. If the specification is exceeded, the VLAN ID service will not be available for subsequent VLAN IDs issued due to the configuration not being able to enter the cache.
Therefore, the device from the V2R11C00SPC300 version of the total number of VLANs for all services is limited, and the total number of VLANS added to the VUNI ports for all services cannot be greater than 7102, and when it is greater than this number, it will prompt that the Qos resources are insufficient. In this problem, the VLANS of the two services PW100 and PW200 configured on OSN1500 are 1~4093 and 1~3009 respectively, and the total number of VLANs of all services reaches 7102, which prompts the Qos-related resource exhaustion error when configuring new services.
Recommendation and Summary
If the service configuration is performed on the previous software version, it can be deployed normally because the host does not limit the total number of this VLANS, but in fact, the subsequently deployed VLANs will not take effect and the service will not be available.
This issue does not exist for OSN3500 and OSN7500 since it is a PCXLN specification limitation.
