Optix OSN8800 Fiber Optic Transport Device LASER_MODULE_MISMATCH is an optical module mismatch alarm. This alarm is reported when the optical module inserted into a single board optical port does not match the type of optical module supported by that port. This alarm is also reported if a commercial grade optical module is used. The mismatch of optical modules will cause the service to be unable to send and receive normally, and in serious cases, it will cause the service to be interrupted.

Problem Description

An H area P customer uses OSN 1800II equipment and inserts an ordinary STM-1 client-side module into the OSC communication port of the main control board to carry out OSC communication, after which the network element can carry out ECC communication normally, and there is no abnormality in the management of the network element, but the LASER_MODULE_MISMATCH alarm is reported.

Processing

1. Click the main control board in the U2000 interface mail, and select path view:

2. Click delete port to delete the port on which the alarm was reported:

3. Re-add the port and select Line Side Grey Optical Port as the TYPE:

4. After adding the port successfully, the alarm disappears.

Root cause

The mismatch between the logical and physical optical module types causes the alarm to be reported. The first line is currently using a customer-side gray optical module, so the module type of the customer-side gray optical should be used for adaptation.

Solution

Adapt the module type of gray light on the customer side.
