PTN network management operation of common problems and specifications(national version)

1 . network element creation:

EML layer:

When creating a network element, you should double-check the type, version, name, and LOCATION of the network elementto ensure the correctness of the created network element.

For EML DOMAIN selection:

Since the current PNM policy is load balancing, if theEML DOMAINis not specified when creating a network element, the system will evenly distribute to the correspondingEML DOMAINof the network element.

In view of this situation, we suggest to specify EML DOMAIN when creating a network element: i. Try to occupy theEML DOMAINas much as possibleto facilitate the process adjustment; ii. When there are more network elements andMulti-SupervisionAreais used, the EML DOMAINmust be specifiedto ensure that the network elements are managed correctly.

For the network element version:

TSS320/160/5C all support auto-adaptation version, if the specified version is not consistent with the version of the monitored network element, the system will automatically modify the version on the network management to correspond to it when the network element starts monitoring.

TSS5 does not support auto-adaptation version, please make sure to specify the correct version when you create the network element.

For TSS5 :

TSS5-TIU try not to create it if it can be unmanaged, if you want to create it, try tomanage itwith a dedicatedEML DOMAIN, sinceTSS5-TIUcan not bemanagedbyPKT,theEML DOMAINthatmanagesthe TSS5-TIUdoes not need tocreate the correspondingPROXYin thePKTlayer. When creatingthe TSS5-TIUnetwork element, the name of the network element and theLOCATIONmustbe the sameas that of theTSS5-EIUin the same subframeso that at theNPR/SDHlayer, there will be only oneNODE(Multi-NE).

NPR/SDH layer:

There is no need to define the NODE, when the NODEis createdinthe EML layer, the NODE will be automatically synchronized to theNRP/SDHlayer, if the NODEcan not be foundinthe NPR/SDHlayer, you canselect the correspondingEML DOMAINin the list ofPhyicalàEML Domainsto perform theSync. EMLoperation.

PKT Layer:

When DEFINE the network element, please specify the correct working mode of the network element; if the working mode is found to be incorrect after the network element is defined, you canselect the corresponding network element in thePKTàConstractionàNetwork ElementsàDefined NEslistActionàModify working Mode/STP TypeModify;whenDEFINEthe network element, make sure that the state of the network element is correct (the state ofthe network element in theEMLis:Supervised,Reachable,Aligned,Denied).

2 , network element name change

Based on NT9.4.1 version

EML layer:

Network element name can be changed after network element monitoring stops

NPR/SDH layer:

NODE name will not be changed, manual modification ofNODEnameis required

PKT Layer:

The network element name can be automatically synchronized with the EML layer network element name.

3、Network element address setting and changing

The network elements of TSS series useIPprotocol,TL1andSNMPinterface management, and you must correctly set theIPaddress ofthe network element, login user name and password, andthe TIDis the sameasthe SID ofthe network element.

TID/SID :

TID/SID forTL1interface management network element identification, can be different from the network element name, but must be unique throughout the network, it is recommended to set the length is not greater than15characters, can only use uppercase letters, numbers and minus sign, can not start with a number, minus sign.

Network element address modification:

Before modifying the network element address, you must stop the network element monitoring normally, otherwise it will lead to the failure of modifying the network element address. The correct procedure is: i. Stop the network element monitoring if the network element is reachable; ii.Modify the network element addressthrough ZIC orTL1; iii. At theEMLlayer, modify the network element address.

4、NTP Settings

After the network element is created, be sure to set the network element NTP ,NTPserver address is the correspondingSupervisionAreaaddress ofthe network element.Because of thebugsin the current version of network management,NTPmay need to be set several times, please make sure thatNTPhas been set correctly and the time of the network element has been synchronized with the network management (in the list of network elements, select NetworkActionsàTimeàGet NE Time).

5、Network element deletion

PKT layer:

Deletion steps:

First, delete the services ( EVC ,CES)related to the network element.

Delete the PWs related to the network element, removethe protection ofTUNNEL, and deleteTUNNEL.

III. Deassign LOC/PORT from domain

iv. Checkwhether the network element to be removed still exists in the TMPLS DOMAIN (SearchàPKTàTMPLSàTMPLS NODES)

V.Remove the network elementin the DEFINED NE list

NPR/SDH layer:

I. Remove the service associated with the network element ( PATH )

ii.Delete the TRAIL associated with the network element

iii.Remove the physical connection associated with the network element

iv. Remove NODE

EML layer:

Determine thatthe network element no longer exists at the PKT andNPR/SDHlayers.

ii. Stop monitoring the network element

Delete the network element.

Note: TSS5C ,TSS5will not check whether the network element is managed by the upper layer of network management, you need to be especially careful when deleting, be sure that the network element in thePKTandNPR/SDHlayer has been deleted.

6 . Physical Connection Creation

Before creating a physical connection, you need toperform aSync.operationon the NODE in order to upload the port of the network element, please note that you must make sure that the result returned by this operation is successfully completed; if the operation is not successfully completed, it may result in thePKTlayerLOCnot being able toAssign to TMPLS DOMAINorPW/TUNNELnot being created correctly.

When creating a physical connection, make sure that the port data is correct (you canjudgeby checkingwhetherthe IBM labelof the port configurationmatches and works properly), because the physical connection is the basic data of the network, and if it is incorrect, it will lead to errors in the upper layer of the service, and it is particularly difficult to cut and modify it.

7 ,PKTlayerAssign LOC

I. Ensurethe working status of LOC-related network elements (Operational State:Enabled,LAC State:Denied,Lock State: Unlocked)

II. Ensure thatthe VTof the LOC-related portis normal (VTexists,Aggregation Criterium:Any,Type:Adaptive), and ifthe VTdoes not exist, the port can be selected to perform theUpload VToperation.

Third, ensure that the relevant port on the network element has been created MPLSIF and exists (viewedthrough theZIC)

The current version of the network management has related bugs , it may appear thatLOC Assignfails butTMPLS SECTIONhas been created (you canview itthroughSearchàPKTàTMPLS-TMPLS SECTION), this problem needs to be reported toCAREfor processing.

8、PKT layerConfigure Download State

When a network element is dismantled for various reasons and can no longer be monitored and still existsin PKT , you canset theDownload State ofthe network elementtoAdministratively Removedin theDEFINED NElist, thendeletethe services,PWTUNNEL, etc.of the network element, and then finallydelete the network elementfrom thePKTlayer.

This function is only applicable to the above situation, and it is absolutely prohibited to utilize this function to Force Deimplement EVC/PW/TUNNEL .

9 .TUNNEL/PWrelated

Prohibitadding protectiontoaTUNNELin the ALLOCATED state.

Before performingthe IMPLEMENT/DEIMPLEMENT operation, make sure that the operating state of the relevant network element is:Operational State:Enabled,LAC State:Denied,Lock State: Unlocked.

ExecuteDISABLE MAINTENANCE END POINTSbeforeIMPLEMENTafter TUNNEL creationto avoidfailure ofIMPLEMENToperation.

It is prohibited tocreate/deleteTUNNEL/PWthrough ZIC andTL1,theincompletePW/TUNNELcreatedthroughZICandTL1may lead tolabel conflict whenthe network administrator createsTUNNEL/PW;afterdeleting thePW/TUNNELcreated by the network administratorthroughZICandTL1, it will lead to the network administrator can'tDeimplementthe relatedTUNNEL/PW..

ForTUNNEL/PWin ALLOCATED state, if the label has been specified (viewedthroughSearchàTMPLS Segments), please rebuild it after deleting it (directImplementationmay fail due to label conflict)

10、EVC related

TSS5 has special requirementsforCIR,PIR,CBS,PBSwhencreatingEVC:

CIR ,PIRmust be aninteger multiple of64,CBS,PBSrecommended configuration131072

11、MSGUI operation related

Asthe menu of MSGUI is state-related, due to various reasons, there may be a case of misoperation due to the state of the relevant object is not automatically refreshed. For example, ifthe state ofTUNNELis not refreshedafter the operationEnable MEPis executedonTUNNEL,the operationEnable MEPon the sameTUNNELagainwill lead to failure.

For the above cases, it is recommended to perform manual refresh operation before operation.

12、Process Related

If the adaptersnmptl1processof EML fails to start, please checkwhether there is any problem withthe PollingTableof theTSS5Cnetwork elementmanaged by this process(see the related document).

If the EML processneeds to be restarted, whenthe number of network elements managed byEMLis high. It is recommended to stop the monitoring of all network elements before stopping the process or startthe EMLprocess, do not startthe EMLsystemdirectly, you shouldmanually start theEMLmanagement process one by one (especially theEMLIMprocess).
