OptiX OSN 9800 ePDM-QPSK (enhanced Polarization Division Multiplexing-Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) modulation, i.e. Polarization Multiplexing QPSK, is a technology based on the DQPSK modulation technique, which makes use of the orthogonal polarization characteristics of light, and performs QPSK modulation on both X/Y polarization modes of light separately. QPSK modulation is based on the DQPSK modulation technique, using the orthogonal polarization characteristics of light, in the light of the X / Y two polarization modes, respectively, QPSK modulation technology.
The ePDM-QPSK technique enables twice as much data to be transmitted at the same wavelength compared to the DQPSK technique. If ePDM-QPSK is used while increasing the baud rate by 1.25 times, the rate of a single wavelength of 40 Gbit/s can be increased to 2 × 1.25 × 40 = 100 Gbit/s, thus accomplishing 100G wavelength transmission, making the bandwidth of WDM optical transmission increase by 2.5 times.
ePDM-QPSK is the best solution for 100G WDM transmission.
