Description of the problem

After upgrading to 5.21.18.55SPH502, bd_status alarms are reported on the PQ1 boards in slots 51, 52, and 53 of the expansion subrack, and wrg_bd_type alarms are reported on the EFS0 boards in slots 2 and 3 of the main subrack. The services on the alarmed boards are all interrupted.

Processing

1. Insert the PQ1 board in slot 51 into the free slot of other OSN 3500s and wait for the board to come up normally, so as to rule out the possibility of board failure; insert PQ1 back into the original slot, and the failure remains;

2, with cfg-get-phybd query, 51,52,53 are no physical board, and 2,3 slot physical board for the PQ1; fault similar to the master-slave subframe boards interfere with each other, suspected that the master-slave subframe setup error;

3, check the expansion of the subrack AUX board, found that the J9 jumper cap is not removed; remove the jumper cap, reset the 51,52,53 slots of the PQ1 board, the fault is restored.

Root cause

1, business board failure; but the probability of multiple business boards failing at the same time after upgrading is extremely small;

2, AUX veneer failure; however, the master and slave subracks both have veneer anomalies;

3, master-slave subframe setup error; expansion subframe of the single board in the single board on-line, will be based on the AUX single board J9 jumper cap to obtain the internal IP address of the single board; when the expansion subframe AUX single board J9 jumper cap is not removed, the internal IP address of the slots 51,52,53 will be the master subframe of the slots 2,3 of the internal address of the IP conflict, so slots 2,3 detected the physical single board for the PQ1 Therefore, slots 2 and 3 detect the physical board as PQ1, and slots 51, 52, and 53 cannot query the physical board.

Suggestion and Summary

When replacing the AUX veneer board in the expansion subrack, care needs to be taken to unplug the J9 jumper cap. Otherwise, a similar failure will occur after rewiring.
