Description of the problem

An OSN3500 device in the current network adds SNCP service prompting that the SNCP protection group ID is illegal, and the error code is 38686. The host version of the device is 5.21.20.31, the cross-board SSN1SXCSA02, and the software version is 9.61.

Processing

Probable Cause:

(1) The number of SNCPs supported by the product has reached the specification;

(2) The cross-board software does not match the version of the host computer;

(3) Version problem.

Processing:

(1) The OSN3500's R10 version product manual describes that the SXCSA single board supports up to 2016 SNCP protection pairs, and the current network device host is R10C01, which meets the conditions;

(2) Verify the version matching table that the software versions of the cross-board and the host are matching;

(3) Configure normal SDH cross service normally, and the equipment does not have the problem of abnormal communication between the host and the single board.

(4) use cfg-get-sncppg query the current number of SNCP protection pairs for 1184, theoretically, you can still continue to configure the SNCP protection group, 1184 this number is very familiar, query the version before the R10 found that the maximum SNCP protection group supported by the SXCSA is 1184, suspect that there is a problem with the information or equipment version problems caused. Confirmed with the R&D, OSN3500 devices are not all R10 versions can support 2016 SNCP protection pairs when used with SXCSA, the specific support situation is as follows:

V100R010C00/V100R010C01: Supports up to 1184 SNCP protection pairs.

V100R010C02/V100R010C03: Supports up to 2016 SNCP protection pairs.

Root Cause

Not all R10 versions of OSN3500 devices support 2016 SNCP protection pairs when used with SXCSA, as described below:

V100R010C00/V100R010C01: Up to 1184 SNCP protection pairs are supported.

V100R010C02/V100R010C03: Supports up to 2016 SNCP protection pairs.

Solution

(1) Upgrade the mainframe to V100R010C02/V100R010C03 or above;

(2) Configure the service to other non-SNCP protection types.

Recommendations and Summary

Not all R10 versions support 2016 SNCP protection pairs when using SXCSA. If the customer has special needs for SNCP protection pairs, please instruct the customer to upgrade the host to the appropriate version.
