Description of the problem

The powerabnormal and THUNDERALM alarms are reported on the 81PIU board in slot 28 of the PTN3900 device, and the powerabnormal alarm parameter is 0x08 00 00 00 00 00 00

The SCA board in slot 30 does not light up, the cross board in slot 10 does not light up, the EG16 in slot 18 does not light up, and in short, all the boards in the right frame do not power up.

Processing

1. powerabnormal alarm parameter 0x08 00 00 00 00 00 means: 28-PIU the second 48V undervoltage (supply voltage is too low) alarm. At the same time, the right half of the frame single board indicator lights are off, further indicating that the second power supply is abnormal.

PTN3900 power supply is as follows, PIU blue part, indicates the first channel, to the left half of the frame board power supply. The red part of PIU indicates the second channel, supplying power to the right half of the frame.

2. It is recommended that the present network troubleshooting operation:

1) Examine whether there is any abnormality in the second power supply system to slot 28;

2) Check whether the PIU in slot 27 is working normally.

Note that the PIU board does not support hot plugging, disconnect the power supply before operation.

3. Troubleshooting found that it is really 28 slots of the second power supply is not accessed, the second power supply access to solve the problem.

Root Cause

For the PIU veneer board of PTN3900, the first power supply, supplies power to the veneer board in the left half of the frame; the second power supply, supplies power to the veneer board in the right half of the frame. If a power supply is not connected, the corresponding half of the frame will not be powered.

Solution

1. It is recommended that the present network troubleshooting operation:

1) Check whether there is any abnormality in the second power supply system to slot 28;

2) Check whether the PIU in slot 27 is working normally.

Note that the PIU board does not support hot plugging, disconnect the power supply before operation.
