The Optix OSN3500 J0 tracking byte is used by the receiving end to confirm the status of an ongoing connection with the transmitting end. It can be set to any identical character between devices of the same vendor, but it has to be set to some agreed-upon identical character between devices of different vendors in order to interface successfully with each other.

J0 byte
The J0 byte is used to repeatedly send the segment access point identifier so that the receiving end can confirm a continuous connection with the specified transmitter. The J0 byte is usually set by default: a single "forbidden" byte.
J1 byte
J1 is the high-order channel trace byte. Its function is that the originating end continuously sends this byte, the high-order access point identifier, so that the receiving end can use it to confirm that it is in a continuous connection with the specified originating end. When the receiving end detects a J1 mismatch, the corresponding channel (VC-4) generates an HP_TIM alarm.
Explanation:
For the J1 byte, it is usually sufficient to use the default value, but when the Huawei device is interfaced with devices from other vendors, it is necessary to set the same value as the J1 byte of the opposite end.
C2 Byte
C2 is a signal marker byte, which serves to indicate the nature of the VC frame's multiplexing structure and the net information load, and requires that the transceiver be matched. A mismatch generates an HP_SLM alarm on the corresponding VC-4 channel at this end.
