SDH Transport Equipment OSN3500 SXCSA Cross Clock Board Opening Considerations

The OSN3500 SSN1SXCSA is a super-crossover clock board that provides service scheduling, clock input and output, and other functions in the OptiX OSN 3500 system. The single board supports functions and features such as service scheduling, clock input and output. The single board consists of a synchronous timing module, a cross-connect module, a communication and control module, and a power supply module. The single board needs to be inserted in the corresponding slot of the subrack as required, otherwise the single board cannot work normally. There are no dial codes and jumpers on the single board for single board setup. The panel of the veneer has veneer indicators and bar codes.The N1SXCSA supports the veneer compatible replacement function, which can replace the N1EXCSA or N1UXCSA veneer. After replacement, the configuration and service status of the N1SXCSA veneer board remain the same as the N1EXCSA or N1UXCSA before replacement.

The OSN3500 SSN1SXCSA fails to meet the low-order crossover capacity and fails to send low-order services during the project opening phase because the logical board of the SXCSA veneer is configured as EXCSA, and the failure is resolved by reconfiguring the logical board as SXCSA. The logical board type does not match the type of the veneer on the actual network element. Incorrect configuration of the clock source priority table all leads to service failure.

Phenomenon Description

During the opening phase of the project, the cross board of the OptiX OSN 3500 equipment in each bureau is N1SXCSA, but by querying the logical single board of each equipment through the network management, some bureaus show that the cross board is N1EXCSA, which leads to the failure of sending some low-order cross services of this equipment because the low-order cross capacity of N1EXCSA is lower than that of N1SXCSA.

Cause Analysis

Possible cause:
  • The physical veneer was not queried at the beginning of the opening of the bureau, but the veneer was added manually as a result.
  • Host version mismatch.
  • Veneer failure.

Operation Steps

  1. Query the network management operation record. The opening is completed at the beginning of the opening by querying the physical board position and checking the opening, and is not added manually.
  2. Query the cross-board single board software for: 7.11, host software for 5.21.18.12, version matching.
  3. The network management on the main and backup cross board EXCSA for reversing test, reversing normal.
  4. Delete the 10-slot spare cross board on OptiX OSN 3500 and manually add it as SXCSA, the alarm of the main control board shows: WRG_BD_TYPE, and the alarm of the 10-slot shows: the installed veneer is not the same as the actual veneer.
  5. Soft reset the SXCSA veneer in slot 10, the veneer works normally.
  6. The master and backup are reversed. Refer to steps 4 and 5 to complete the addition operation of the SXCSA veneer in the master board slot.
