SDH Transport Device Interface Configuration Basic Attributes

The basic attributes of an SDH interface define information about its physical layer, including port mode, encapsulation type, and maximum packet length.

Prerequisites

Network administrator privileges of "Operator Group" and above.

Steps

  1. Click a network element in the Element Manager and select "Configuration > Interface Management > SDH Interface" in the function tree.
  2. Select the single board to be configured.
  3. Set the corresponding parameters as required. see Table 1 for the parameter descriptions of the basic attributes of the SDH interface.


    Description:

    PTN 3900/3900-8/1900: Pay attention to the setting parameters:

    • When the "Port Mode" is Layer 1, the "Encapsulation Type" is not supported, and you can access channelized STM-N service and Fractional E1.
    • When "Port Mode" is Layer 2, "Encapsulation Type" only supports ATM, and ATM services can be accessed at this time.
    • When "Port Mode" is Layer 3, "Encapsulation Type" can select Null or PPP; if Null is selected, the interface will not enable PPP protocol, which can reduce the load on the device; if PPP is selected, the interface can access MPLS or IP services. If you choose PPP, the interface can access MPLS or IP services.
    • The value of "Maximum packet length (bytes)" of the network side interface must be greater than or equal to 960, because the maximum length of DCN message is 960, and when the value of "Maximum packet length (bytes)" is less than 960, it may cause the DCN message in the receiving direction to be lost. DCN messages in the receive direction may be lost if the value of "Maximum packet length (bytes)" is less than 960.


  4. Optional: Select a port that can be opened in the window below to view its associated services and the logical port to which it belongs.
  5. Click "Apply" to bring up the "Operation Result" dialog box, indicating that the operation is successful.
  6. Click Close.
