Huawei OLT MA5800 Optical access network is an access network that uses light as a transmission medium, replacing copper wires, and is used to access every home. Optical access network is composed of OLT (Optical Line Terminal) and ONU (Optical Network Unit, Optical Network Unit) and ODN (Optical Distribution Network, Optical Distribution Network); OLT and ONU are the core components of optical access network. OLT, the core component of optical access network, is equivalent to switch or router in traditional communication network, and it is also a multi-service provisioning platform. It is generally placed at the bureau end to provide the fiber optic interface to the user-oriented passive fiber optic network. Its main functions are:

• Uplink to the upper layer network, complete the PON (Passive Optical Network ) network uplinked to the PON (Passive Optical Network) network.

• Connects to the user terminal equipment ONU through the ODN network (composed of optical fiber and passive splitter). control, management, and ranging functions of the user terminal equipment ONU.

ONU, the user terminal equipment in the optical network, is placed in the user side, used in conjunction with OLT to realize Ethernet layer 2 and layer 3 functions, providing users with voice, data and multimedia services. It mainly realizes the following functions:

• Selects to receive data data sent by the OLT.

• Responds to the management commands sent by the OLT and makes adjustments accordingly.

• Caches the user's Ethernet data and sends it in the uplink direction in the transmit window assigned by the OLT.

• Other user management functions.
