Figure 1 Network diagram of the unprotected chain

Huawei Metro1000 unprotected service configuration process
Prerequisites
- The network physical topology is built.
- The network elements, single boards, and fibers have been created successfully on the network management.
- The created protection subnets are consistent with the actual topology. See Configuring Unprotected Chains for the creation method.
- Understand the Service Signal Flow and Time Slot Allocation sections.
- Configure the SDH service of the source network element in NE1.
- Select NE1 in the Network Element Manager, and then choose Configuration > SDH Service Configuration in the Function Tree.
- Click "New" at the bottom of the right window, set the required parameters in the pop-up "New SDH Service" dialog box, and click "OK".
| Parameter | Value in this example | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Grade | VC12 | The service in this example is an E1 service, so set the corresponding service "level" to "VC12". |
| Direction | Bidirectional | In this example, the received service and the transmitted service go through the same route, so it is a "bi-directional" service. |
| Source board position | 6-SP2D | In this example, we plan to use the SP2D board in board position 6 of NE1 as the source tributary board, as shown in Figure 1. |
| Source time slot range (e.g., 1, 3-6) | 1-5 | In this example, there are five E1 services between NE1 and NE2, so set the service source to occupy VC-12 time slots 1 to 5. |
| Host board position | 3-OI2D-1 (SDH-1) | In this example, it is planned to use the OI2D single board at board position No. 3 of NE1 as the host line board, as shown in Figure 1. |
| Host VC4 | VC4-1 | The number of the VC-4 where the service host is located is VC-4 No. 1. |
| Host time slot range (e.g., 1, 3-6) | 1-5 | In this example, there are five E1 services between NE1 and NE2, so set the service host to occupy VC-12 time slots numbered 1 to 5. |
| Immediate activation | Yes | - |
- Referring to the operation of 1, complete the SDH service configuration of the host network element in NE2. Set the parameters as shown below.

- Refer to Verify SDH Service Configuration Correctness to verify the correctness of the service configuration.
- Enable the performance monitoring of the network element, the procedure can be referred to Setting the Performance Monitoring Parameters of the Network Element.
- Backup the configuration data of the network element, the operation procedure can be referred to Backup the network element database to the main control board.
When protection of the services on the chain is not required, you can configure it as an unprotected chain, at which time all the time slots on the chain are available for transmitting services.
A point-to-point unprotected chain is shown in the networking diagram shown in Figure 1. In this example, the source network element NE1 and the host network element NE2 select the SP2D single board as the tributary board for the up and down services, and the OI2D single board is selected as the line board to complete the transmission of SDH services.
The configuration process of the unprotected chain service is independent of the creation of its protection subnet. On the basis of the creation of the protection subnet, it is enough to configure the SDH services from the branch boards to the line boards of the source and host network elements.
If the service is configured incorrectly and needs to be deleted, refer to Deleting SDH Services.
