Problem Description
Engineer is configuring OSN3500 EPLAN service, setting VLAN filter table VLAN ID from 3000 to 3999, all of them report error. Error code 39802, number of VLANs exceeds the limit.
I checked that the number of VLAN IDs does not exceed 4096, but why is it not configured?
After counting all the VLANs in the VLAN filter table, the number of VLANs is 8192.
Alarm message
Error code 39802, number of VLANs exceeds the limit.
Processing
Reprogram the VLAN filter table so that the total number does not exceed 8192.
Root Cause
Because the host has a limit on the total number of VLANs, note that it refers to the total number here, not the number. Since too many VLANs will take up more resources of the host, including memory, flash and so on. Therefore, the host computer limits the total number of VLANs to no more than 8192. This is a specification limitation, not a software defect, so no version to solve.
Recommendation and Summary
It is recommended to do reasonable planning before configuring the VLAN filter table, taking into account the limitations on the host. Subsequently this limitation will be reflected in the product description for engineers' reference. In addition, the M3000 supports up to 4096VLANs and the M5000 supports up to 8192VLANs.
