Upgrading the main control board causes ECC connection interruption
When upgrading the main control board, the connection between devices is interrupted because the new main control board supports fewer DCC channels than the old main control board. Therefore, pay special attention to the DCC support during the replacement process of the main control board.
Products
OptiX OSN3500
Fault category
DCN Failure
Phenomenon Description
Two OptiX OSN 3500 devices need to be upgraded to support intelligent services, and the N1SCC veneer on the OptiX OSN 3500 needs to be replaced with the N1GSCC veneer. However, after the replacement, it is found that the ECC connection between these two OptiX OSN 3500 devices is broken.
Cause Analysis
The ECC connection between the two devices is interrupted for the following possible reasons:
The DCC protocol changes after the single board replacement.
DCC configuration error.
The port is not allowed to use DCC.
Procedure
At the beginning, the device is configured with two SLT1, two SLQ4 and two SL64 veneer boards, so 34DCC channels are required. N1SCC supports 40DCC channels, so it can work normally.
After replacing the N1SCC with the N1GSCC, the ECC connection is interrupted. Check the ECC channels in use and find that all 10 channels are occupied.
When using the smart feature, the N1GSCC only supports 10D1-D3 channels.
Remove the two SLT1 veneers and power up the device. the SL64 veneer is assigned to the DCC channel first and the ECC connection is restored.
Reference information
When replacing the main control board, check the DCC channels first to ensure that the new main control can provide sufficient DCC channels for the device.
For the DCC resource allocation of the main control board, see "Network Management Information Interoperability" in the Product Description.
