Description

The standby CXL board of OSN 1500 network element reports SYNC_FAIL alarm, the first parameter of the alarm is 0x21, the service is not affected, and the standby CXL board reports COMMUN_FAIL alarm at the same time.

Cause analysis

Possible reasons are:

The veneer version is mismatched.

Veneer false alarm.

The veneer is damaged and the Ethernet communication is interrupted causing the communication between the master and backup CXL veneer to be blocked, resulting in the failure of the backup of the master and backup CXL veneer.

Procedure

Check the host version of the site is 5.36.13.47, and all the single boards are compatible with the host, so exclude the reason that the single boards are not compatible with the version.

Check the single board version of slot 5, slot 81 and slot 83 through the network management, and the version information cannot be queried, which means that the alarm is not caused by false alarm.

Since the standby CXL reports COMMUN_FAIL alarm, which indicates that the Ethernet communication is interrupted, it is impossible to query the single board version of the standby CXL. At the same time, because the Ethernet communication is interrupted, the master and backup CXL boards cannot communicate with each other, so the backup CXL board reports the SYNC_FAIL alarm, and the batch backup between the master and backup CXL boards fails.

Perform a soft reset on the slot 83 board bit master of the network element, and after the veneer operates normally, the failure disappears.
