Problem description

The OSN3500 network element is using the V100R010C03SPC200 version, and there are three N3EAS2 single boards on the network element. Without doing any operation on the three single boards, it is found that the three single boards are unable to respond to any commands on a certain day, and all the commands sent to the single boards or the software platform return a timeout.

Processing

1, all the commands sent to the single board and software platform, such as : ethn-cfg-get-vctrunkreal,ethn-cfg-get-portbdpara,cfg-get-bdverinfo and the single board performance are returned to timeout, so the first suspicion that the single board software has a task hanging dead, resulting in failure to respond to commands.

2, due to the command can not respond, so the coordination of a line on the station connected to the serial port, the query from the serial port did not find a task hang up, the single-board underlying communication is no packet loss and misreporting, but the DMM ping has not been able to suspect that there are problems in the software platform to the host to send over the message is discarded.

3, further positioning found due to software design bugs, resulting in unplugging network elements on the other no CPU board (such as interface boards, fans, etc.), N3EAS2 board received the host broadcast offline message mistakenly thought that the host offline, and thus no longer respond to messages from the host, the external performance of the board does not respond to the command.

Root cause

A bug in the software design of the single board causes the N3EAS2 to mistakenly think that the master is offline when unplugging or plugging in other single boards on the network element and thus no longer responds to messages sent from the master, resulting in the single board not responding to commands.

Solution

1, Temporary solution: Unplug the N3EAS2 board. However, if someone unplugs the other boards on the network element again, the problem will reappear.

2, Complete solution: Upgrade the software to V100R010C03SPC202 and its subsequent versions.
