Problem Description

At a newly opened site, after adding EMS4 board in OSN3500 16 slot, engineers are unable to add EFF8 or ETF8 board in 36 slot (interface board slot), and the network management prompts the error: slot number is illegal, error code 38663.

Processing

1. Check the product manual, which clearly states that after adding EMS4 board in slot 16, you can add EFF8 or ETF8 interface board in slot 35 or 36.

2、Set the network management to pre-configuration, and you can add the interface board in slot 35 or 36 without any problem.

3、Return data R&D analysis: the version code is wrong, resulting in the EFF8/EFT8 single board can only be added on slots 19, 21, 23, 25, 29, 31, 33, 35, and can not be added on other slots.

4、After confirming, this problem exists from version 5.21.16.xx to 5.21.18.44 , to solve this problem, we need to upgrade to version 5.21.18.50 and above.

Root Cause

1. The EMS4 single board does not support adding an interface board in slot 36.

2、Network management or host defect.
