Problem Description
During engineering testing, it was found that some LSXs had excessive differences between measured sensitivity and nominal sensitivity issues. Specifically, the nominal range of the LSX 10km optical module is (-0.5dbm,-12.5dbm), and the LOS alarm will be reported at -13dbm. However, the measured sensitivity of the optical modules are all at -20dbm.

Root cause
The company purchased this type of optical module from many manufacturers, and there are great differences in the indicators of various manufacturers. In order to ensure the universality of the optical module, only the intersection of the intervals of the indicators of various manufacturers can be used to label the optical module information.
Solution
1. Check that there is no problem with the test method; use the standard test method provided by Huawei; loop back the OUT wavelength division side to ensure that the wavelength division side receives the light normally, hang the meter on the customer side, and add the adjustable light attenuation between the OUT customer-side light receiving port and the meter. Adjust the adjustable light attenuation so that the meter has no error code; then, adjust the adjustable light attenuation so that the optical power decreases until the meter receives an error code. Measure the power received at this time is the sensitivity.
2, test more LSX customer optical modules, found that most of the optical modules have this problem;
3, check the threshold of the reported LOS, and found that the alarm threshold was set to the lower threshold -12.5dbm;
4, check the nominal indicators of such optical modules, and -12.5dbm closer; ask the R & D that the company purchased this type of optical modules from many manufacturers, various manufacturers of indicators there are significant differences. In order to ensure the universality of the optical module, we can only use the intersection of the indicators of various manufacturers to label the optical module information. Moreover, even if the measured indicators are better, the company does not guarantee that this type of optical module can maintain such good performance for a long time.
5. Replace some of the modules that receive light close to the sensitivity with 80km optical modules.
