Optix OSN3500 Replacement of PIU Power Single Boards

This task describes the procedure for replacing the PIU power supply veneer board.

Prerequisites

The user has the privileges of a network administrator in the "Operator Group" or higher. The type and location of the replaced board has been identified.

Impact on the system

When the PIU power board is used for 1+1 backup, the replacement of the backup PIU power board has no impact on the service.

Background Information

Note: The power switch on the DC distribution box must be turned off first when replacing the veneer, and no power plugs are allowed to be attached to the interface. After the PIU is plugged in, then plug in the power plug and finally turn the power switch on the DC distribution box on.

Pay attention to the correspondence between the faulty veneer and the air switch of the DC power distribution box to avoid subrack power down or power short circuit caused by misoperation on site. Please refer to "DC Distribution Box" in "Hardware Description" for details of DC distribution box.

Operation Procedure

Select a spare part. Select a spare part with the same parameters as the replaced board. Query and record the current alarm of the board. If there is a fiber cable connected to the replaced board, record the cable connection location first, and then remove the cable with a fiber puller. Record the cable connection location of the board and remove the cable.

Replace the board.

Description:

Unplugging the Optix OSN3500 veneer board will report BD_STATUS, COMMUN_FAIL alarms, which are automatically lifted when the new veneer board comes online.

If the replaced veneer is not configured with protection, the veneer is replaced directly. If the replaced board is configured with protection, follow the steps below.

1. Replace the spare board.

2. Verify that the single board works normally. Query the single-board alarm and confirm that the original alarm has been lifted.

3. Restore the cable connection of the replacement board to ensure that the backup board is also powered.

4. Query the alarms and performance events in the network management, there are no new alarms and performance events, and query the normal operation of the service, indicating that the reversal is successful.

5. Replace the current standby board.

6. Verify that the single board is working normally. Query the single board alarms to confirm that the original alarm has been lifted. Through the power indicator status can be observed whether the power supply is working properly, see "Hardware Description" "Single Board Alarm Indicator Description".

7. Restore the single-board cable connection.

8. Verify the normal operation of the single board. Query the single-board alarm to confirm that the original alarm has been lifted.
