Description of the problem
A network is organized for Huawei OSN3500 devices, and the network operation and monitoring are normal. After upgrading OSN3500 (from 5.21.12.43 to 5.21.13.47p01) on a certain day, some of the 3500 devices are offline, and the network administrator is unable to log in to the device, nor can he log in from the command line. The network element is configured as SLQ1 at board positions 1, 2, and 3, and SL16 veneer at board positions 8 and 11.ECC messages are passed through board positions 8 and 11.
Processing
The site directly using the command line login is normal, no other abnormal alarms, using ecc-get-bdinfo query found that the 8, 11 boards are not assigned ECC bytes, while the unused first three boards corresponding to the optical port is assigned to the ECC, query the ECC allocation mode for the 10-way D1-D3 mode, after upgrading the master reset to reallocate the ECC allocated only to the first three boards led to the network element can not monitor. The network elements cannot be monitored.
Root Cause
Huawei OSN3500 device ECC allocation mode change
Solution
Shut down the ECCs of the corresponding optical ports of the first three board positions, and query the allocation of board positions 8 and 11 to normal ECCs, and network monitoring returns to normal.
Suggestion and Summary
OSN3500 defaults to 10 ECC ports mode, which will be reallocated after the host is upgraded and reset, and even the unused ports may be assigned to ECC bytes. The site needs to enable the unused port ECC shutdown according to the company's requirements so that it will not affect the later reset.
