Steps for Replacing the PDH Service Single Board of Huawei SDH Optical Transmission Equipment

This task describes the procedure for replacing the PDH service veneer board of Huawei SDH optical transmission equipment.

Prerequisites

  • The user has the network management user privilege of "Operator Group" and above.
  • The type and location of the replaced board has been identified.
  • The new board has the same software version as the replaced board and does not contain any configuration information.

Impact on the system

PDH veneer boards are categorized into two types: interface boards and processing boards. When replacing different types of veneer boards, the impact on services is as follows:

  • If the interface board is replaced, the service on the replaced interface board will be interrupted.
  • If the processing board is replaced, the service will be protected when the replaced processing board is configured with TPS protection. When the replaced processing board is not configured with TPS protection, the service is interrupted.

Procedure

  1. Select spare parts.


    • Select a veneer whose parameters are exactly the same as the veneer being replaced.
    • If the board supports the compatible replacement function, you can confirm the replaceable board based on the compatible replacement relationship.


  2. Queries the current alarm of the board.
    • If the veneer to be replaced is an interface board, replace the veneer directly.
    • If the veneer to be replaced is a processing board, perform step 3.
  3. Query whether the single board to be replaced is configured with TPS protection.
    1. Right-click on the network element icon and select "Network Element Manager".
    2. Select "Configuration > TPS Protection" in the function tree.
    3. Click Query. The "Result" dialog box pops up, indicating that the operation was successful, and then click Close.
  4. Replacing a single board is categorized into the following three situations:


    Description:

    Unplugging the veneer will report the BD_STATUS and COMMUN_FAIL alarms, and the alarms will be released automatically when the new veneer comes online.


    • If the single board is not configured with TPS protection, directly replace the single board.
      1. Remove and replace the faulty single board.
      2. Verify whether the single board is working normally. Observe the indicator light (STAT) of the single board, which is green and long, indicating that the single board is working normally. Query the single board alarms, no new abnormal alarms.
    • If the single board is configured with TPS protection, and a master and backup reversal has occurred, replace the current backup board.
      1. Remove and replace the faulty board.
      2. Verify that the single board is working normally. Observe the indicator light (STAT) of the single board, which is green and long, indicating that the single board is working normally. Query the single board alarms, no new abnormal alarms.
    • If the single board is configured with TPS protection and does not automatically carry out a master-standby reversal, replace the current master board.
      1. Perform manual reversal of the single board in the network management.
        1. Right-click on the network element icon and select "Network Element Manager".
        2. Select "Configuration > TPS Protection" in the function tree.
        3. Select the board you want to replace, right-click and select "Manual Reverse". Click "Confirm" in the pop-up dialog box. The "Result" dialog box pops up, click "Close".
        4. Query the alarms and performance events in the network management, confirm that there are no new alarms and performance events except for the TPS reversal alarm (such as TPS_ALM), and query the normal operation of the service, indicating that the reversal is successful.
      2. Remove and replace the faulty single board.
      3. Verify that the single board works normally. Observe the indicator light (STAT) of the single board, which is green and long, indicating that the single board is working normally. Query the single board alarms, no new abnormal alarms.
      4. Optional: Use the network management to lift the manual reversal.
        1. Right-click on the network element icon and select "Network Element Manager".
        2. In the function tree, select "Configuration > TPS Protection".
        3. Select the replaced board and choose "Manual Recovery" in the right-click menu. The "Result" dialog box pops up, click "Close".
        4. Check the alarms and performance events in the network management, and confirm that there are no new alarms and performance events, and the service is running normally, which means the recovery is successful.
  5. Query the single board alarms and confirm that there are no abnormal alarms.
