Replacing the Huawei SDH Optical Transmission Equipment Line Veneer Procedure

This task describes how to replace the SDH veneer board.

Prerequisites

  • The user has network management user privileges of "Operator Group" and above.
  • The type and location of the replaced board has been identified.
  • The new board has the same software version as the replaced board and does not contain any configuration information.

Impact on the System

  • If the veneer is not configured for protection, replacing the veneer causes the service carried by the veneer to be interrupted.
  • If the single board is configured with network protection, the replacement of the single board will not affect the service under normal circumstances of the reversal.

Precautions

Description:

When replacing the line veneer with wavelength adjustable function, you need to set the carrier wavelength of the optical interface between the new line veneer and the WDM side of the interface to be the same as that of the veneer being replaced on the network management.

Operation Procedure

  1. Select the spare parts.


    • Select a veneer whose parameters are exactly the same as the veneer being replaced.
    • If the board supports the compatible replacement function, you can confirm the replaceable board based on the compatible replacement relationship.


  2. Queries and records the current alarms of the single board.
  3. Query the network protection configuration. Query whether the device is configured with protection in the network management, if not, directly remove and replace the single board and ensure that the removed single board works normally. The following is an example of the steps to query MSP protection.
    1. In the main menu, "Service > SDH Protection Subnet > SDH Protection Subnet Maintenance".
    2. Select an MSP protection subnet in the left table box. The status of the nodes on the protection subnet is displayed in the right table box.
    3. Click Query to query the inversion status of each node.
  4. If there is no inversion, start the network inversion. The following is an example of the steps to initiate a switchover for MSP protection.
    1. Right-click on the network element icon and select "Network Element Manager".
    2. In the "Function Tree", select "Configuration > Ring Multiplex Segment".
    3. Select the veneer to be replaced in "Board Mapping Relationships", and then select "Practice Ring Reversal" in the right-click menu. The "Result" dialog box will pop up, click "Close".
    4. Click "Query > Query Reverse Status", and the node reverse status shows "Practice Ring Reverse", indicating that the MSP reverse is normal.
    5. Query the alarms and performance events in the network management, and confirm that there are no new alarms and performance events except the alarms (such as APS_INDI) and performance events generated by the practice inversion, and the service is normal, which indicates that the inversion is successful.
    6. Select the single board to be replaced, and choose "Forced Ring Rewind to Protection" in the right-click menu. The "Operation Result" dialog box pops up, click "Close".
    7. Click "Query > Query Rewind Status", and the node rewind status shows "Forced Ring Rewind", indicating that the MSP rewind is normal.


      Explanation:

      Forced ring reversal will report APS_INDI alarm.

  5. Remove and replace the veneer.

    Description:

    Unplugging the veneer will report BD_STATUS and COMMUN_FAIL alarms, and the alarms will be automatically lifted when the new veneer comes online.


  6. Optional: Use the network management to lift the MSP inversion.
    1. Right-click on the network element icon and select "Network Element Manager".
    2. In the Function Tree, select Configuration > Ring Multiplex Segment.
    3. Verify that the board is working properly. Observe the indicator light (STAT) of the single board, it is green and on for a long time, and make sure that there is no abnormal alarm on the network management, which means the single board is working normally.
    4. Select the replaced board and choose "Clear" in the right-click menu. Pop-up "operation results" dialog box, click "Close".
    5. Click "Query > Query Reverse Status", the node reverse status displays "Normal", indicating that the reverse has been lifted.
  7. Verify whether the single board is working normally.
    1. Observe the indicator light (STAT) of the single board, it is green and long light, it means the single board is working normally.
    2. Query the single-board alarms, no new abnormal alarms.
    3. Perform the practice reversal and confirm that the practice reversal is normal.
