Description of the problem
Normally we have to perform 24 hours BER test on 2M channel before turning on 2M service, as shown in the figure below to form a ring network:
If the devices on the ring network all use a 2M channel, is it possible to complete the 24-hour test for the 2M channel of all network elements at one time?
Solution
1. We can configure the same VC12 time slot SNCP service to the 2M channel of the tributary board to be used on the four network elements of A,B,C,D using the single-site method, it is better to use manual configuration here, and the direction of the working service and the protection service must be the same at each site, for example, the east direction is used for working and the west direction is used for protection on the network element of A. Network elements of B,C,D must be configured in the same direction as well. Or we can manually configure two unidirectional data: the eastbound optical board points to the tributary channel (receiving signal), and the tributary channel points to the westbound optical board (sending signal). This configuration is to control the service selection and reception direction to be consistent.
2. Do physical hard loopback on the 2M channels at points B, C and D. Hang a meter on the 2M channel at point A for testing. Before testing, you can disconnect the 2M at points B, C and D to see if the meter shows that the signal is not working, and confirm that the signal passes through each point before testing.
