Replacing the OptiXtrans E6616 PIU Power Supply BoardProcedure

  1. Select the spare board. Select a spare board whose parameters (e.g., board name, model number, software/hardware version, etc.) are exactly the same as the failed board.
  2. Wear an anti-static wrist strap.
  3. Query and record the current alarms of the network element related to the faulty veneer.
  4. Disconnect the power switch of the power board to be replaced.
    • For PIU veneer: disconnect the power output switch for that circuit on the DC distribution box.
    • For APIU single board: directly unplug the power input of the AC power supply.
  5. Record the location of the single board cable connections and remove the cables.
  6. Remove and replace the veneer board to be replaced on site. If the power supply board is not configured with 1+1 protection, the veneer board is replaced directly; if the power supply board is configured with 1+1 protection, the standby board is used for power supply, and then switched to the main board after the replacement is completed.

    When unplugging/plugging a single board, the device reports the BD_STATUS alarm, which is automatically canceled when the new single board comes online.

    1. Unplug the power supply.
    2. Optional: If there are bolts on both sides of the power supply board, loosen the bolts.
    3. Holding the pull-tabs and applying smooth pressure, remove the power supply board and place it in the shielding bag.
    4. Gently push the new power supply board into the corresponding slot along the guide groove of the cabinet. Push the handle bar of the new power supply board slightly harder until the new power supply board is fully inserted into the chassis.
    5. Optional: If the power supply board has bolts on both sides, refasten the bolts on both sides.
    6. Plug in the power supply.
      • For PIU veneer boards: press the tabs on both ends of the power plug to tighten the tabs.
      • For APIU veneer boards: insert the power plug directly.
    7. Restore the single board cable connection.
  7. After confirming that the voltage is normal, restore power supply.
    • For PIU veneer boards: turn on the power output switch for that circuit on the DC power distribution box.
    • For APIU board: Re-insert the power input plug of the AC power supply and set the power switch of the APIU board to "ON".

      It is recommended that the main control board, fan board, and APIU board are all plugged in before supplying power to the device.

  8. Verify that the power supply board is working properly.
    1. Observe whether the power board indicator is normal. If the indicator is green and long lit, the board is working properly.
    2. Query whether the power supply board has new alarms. If there is no new abnormal alarm, it means that the single board is working normally; if there is new abnormal alarm, please clear the alarm.
    3. If you cannot locate the cause of the failure, contact Huawei engineers.
