OSN3500 SSN4SLQ16 software issue causes HPUNEQ alarms on outer loopbacks

The functional versions of OSN3500 SLQ16 single board are N1, N2 and N4. N2 SLQ16 single board has been discontinued. SLQ16 optical interface board is a line single board, which can be used to realize the reception and transmission of STM-16 optical signals on OptiX OSN series devices. With this board, the SLQ16 sends the received optical signals to the crossover side through O/E conversion, while the electrical signals from the crossover side are sent out through E/O conversion. The single board supports functions and features such as receiving and transmitting 4-channel STM-16 optical signals, overhead processing and multiplexing segment protection. When configuring multiplexing segment protection and SNCP, if the working board is N2SLQ16 with TCM function enabled or AU-3 service configured, the protection board is not allowed to be N1SLQ16 that does not support TCM function and AU-3 service, or the inversion will lead to service interruption.N4SLQ16 supports CWDM and DWDM color optical interfaces, and the optical interface adopts LC connector. The CWDM optical interface supports 80km transmission distance, and the DWDM optical interface supports 120km transmission distance.N4SLQ16 supports single-fiber bi-directional optical module, and the single-fiber bi-directional optical module does not support the use of pigtail for optical interface loopback.

Problem Description

A power customer opens the board to test the external loopback function of the OSN3500 SSN4SLQ16 single board:

Scenario 1: The SSN1SLQ16 single board is connected to the meter first and then looped back externally, the los disappears and there is no alarm on the meter.

SSN4SLQ16 single board connects to the meter first and then loops back externally, los disappears, no alarm on the meter.

Scenario 2: SSN1SLQ16 board connects to meter first, then connects to external loopback, los disappears, no alarms on meter

SSN4SLQ16 board loops out first and then connects to the meter, los disappears and the meter reports HPUNEQ alarm.

OSN3500 device version is 5.21.18.44, SSN4SLQ16 version is 7.85, SSN1SLQ16 version is 7.16.

Processing

1. All 10PCS SSN4SLQ16 purchased by the customer have this problem, ruling out a single single board failure.

2、After R&D confirmed that it is caused by hardware defects. The problem can be avoided by connecting the meter before loopback or pre-configuring the services on SSN4SLQ16.

When the SSN4SLQ16 board is configured with services, first loopback and then connect to the meter, after the los disappears, there is no alarm on the meter.

3. R&D plans to release R10 version at the end of June 2011 to solve this problem.

SSN1SLQ16 single board is out of production, the customer needs to purchase SSN4SLQ16 single board instead. This problem has no effect on the operation of the current network, only need to inform the customer to pay attention to the test.
