OSN3500 EGS2 and METRO1000 EFS Configuration for EPL Service Not Working

OSN3500 SSN3EGS2 single board is an Ethernet switching processing board, which is mainly used to solve the telecommunication application areas such as Ethernet service access, bandwidth management, and Layer 2 switching of Ethernet services. It supports 1000BASE-SX/LX/ZX/VX Ethernet optical interfaces, supports self-negotiation function, and meets IEEE 802.3z standard. Adopting pluggable SFP optical interface, the transmission distance of multi-mode fiber can reach up to 550m, and single-mode fiber up to 10km (40km and 80km optical modules can be selected according to actual needs). The single board consists of Ethernet access module, network processing module, mapping module, interface conversion module, logic control module, clock module and power module. Typical networking applications of Ethernet switching processing board can realize Ethernet access, aggregation, Layer 2 switching of Ethernet data, port isolation, flow classification, data flow control, VLAN management, priority configuration and other data characteristics, as well as data encapsulation/decapsulation, virtual cascade, SDH mapping/demapping and other functions. At the same time, it can be docked with broadband access equipment and digital communication equipment to provide a network-wide solution.

Metro1000 SS49EFS0 single board board to complete the 10M/100M/1000M Ethernet service access, support for EPL, EVPL (Ethernet Virtual Private Line), EPLAN, EVPLAN (Ethernet Virtual Private LAN) service types, to realize the EOS (Ethernet over SDH) function. The single board consists of an interface module, a service processing module, an encapsulation/mapping module, a communication and control module, and a power supply unit.4 The single board can be plugged into IU1, IU2, and IU3 slots, and the EFSC single board can be plugged into IU4 slot.The interface processing module accesses the signals sent from external Ethernet devices (e.g., Ethernet switches, routers, etc.) and performs decoding and serial/parallel conversion. Then it enters the service processing module to perform functions such as frame delimitation, stripping leading code, terminating CRC check code and Ethernet performance statistics, and classifies the streams according to the form of service and configuration requirements, and finally sends it to the mapping module to perform VC-12 or VC-3 mapping, and sends it to the crossover unit.The VC-12 or VC-3 signals sent from the crossover unit are demapped and then sent to the encapsulation module for decapsulation. The service processing module determines the routing according to the level at which the device is located. Performs stream classification according to the service form and configuration requirements. Functions such as frame delimitation, adding leading code, calculating CRC check code and Ethernet performance statistics are completed. Finally, the interface processing module carries out serial-parallel conversion and encoding to be sent out by the Ethernet interface.

Problem Description

When the EGS2 single board of OSN3500 equipment and the EFS single board of METRO1000 equipment are configured with EPL service, the service is not available and the test frames are not available when the FCS field of the Ethernet single boards at both ends is set to "FCS32" by default; the service can be opened when the FCS field is set to "no". When the FCS field is set to "no", the service can be opened and the test frames are normal.

1, analyze the EGS2/EFS single board related data and find that the EGS2 single board black box records a large number of zero-packet packets in vctrunk18 when the single board checksum field is defaulted to "FCS32":

2, thus basically confirm the problem in the EGS2 single board PL215 chip, confirmed that the EGS2 single board PL215 chip in the 208 version of the FCS32 enable case, will produce zero packets; FCS field set to "no" case will not produce zero packets.

Circumvention Program:

Set the FCS field parameter to "no";

Fundamental solution:

Upgrade the EGS2 single board PL215 chip logic version to 210 and later.

Root Cause.

1. EGS2/EFS single board software problem;

2, due to the GFP encapsulation protocol in the PL215 chip implementation, suspected EGS2/EFS single-board PL215 chip FPGA logic version of the problem.
