OSN3500 SSN1BPA does not match the master board reporting HARD_BAD alarms

The OSN3500 SSN1BPA veneer boards are available in functional versions N1 and N2. the N1BPA veneer board has been discontinued. The single board is an optical power amplifier and preamplifier board, providing 1 channel power amplifier (BA) and 1 channel preamplifier (PA), which are applied to the transmitter and receiver of OptiX OSN equipment respectively. When optical signals are transmitted over long distances, there is more signal attenuation, so in order to make optical receivers receive normal optical signals, it is necessary to add an optical power amplifier board (BA) and a preamplifier board (PA). The single board consists of optical part, driving and detecting part, data processing and communication part. The single board can also be commonly used with OSN series devices and can be inserted into the OptiX OSN1500A subrack in slots 12 to 13 and the OptiX OSN1500B subrack in slots 11 to 13.

The SSN4GSCC main control board reports the HARD_BAD alarm. After querying the BPA and GSCC board versions, it is found that the two versions do not match. After upgrading the BPA board version, the alarm is canceled.

Phenomenon Description

The HARD_BAD alarm was reported on the main control board. The alarm is not canceled after the main control board is switched from master to backup.

Cause analysis

Query the HARD_BAD alarm on the network management to confirm the faulty board slot and the cause of the fault.

Steps

  1. Query the HARD_BAD alarm on the network management. The "Location Information" displays information about the board that caused the alarm. After selecting the reported alarm on the network management, the location information of the alarm is displayed in the lower left corner of the interface.
  2. Queries the software version of the single board.
    1. Select "Report > Single Board Information Report" in the main menu.
    2. Select the network element and click.
    3. In the parameter name column of "Single Board Information Report", right click and select "Software Version". You can check the software version of the veneer.
  3. After querying the software version of the veneer, it is found that the software version of the BPA veneer and the GSCC veneer do not match.
  4. Upgrade the BPA board version. The alarm is lifted.
