OSN3500 can't create SSN4SLQ16 logical single board on the network management

The OSN3500 SLQ16 veneer boards are available in functional versions N1, N2, and N4. The N2SLQ16 veneer board has been discontinued. The optical interface board is a line board that can be used on OptiX OSN series devices to receive and transmit STM-16 optical signals. With this board, the SLQ16 sends the received optical signals to the crossover side through O/E conversion, while the electrical signals from the crossover side are sent out through E/O conversion. The single board supports functions and features such as receiving and transmitting 4-channel STM-16 optical signals, overhead processing and multiplexed segment protection.

Phenomenon Description

One day, the customer returned that the SLQ16 logical board of OSN 3500 could not be created on the network management, and the customer reported that the cross board at the site had been replaced by an SXCSA board from a UXCSA board.

Cause Analysis

SLQ16 can only be used on OSN 3500 with a crossover capacity of 200 Gbit/s. When the crossover capacity is 40 Gbit/s, SLQ16 can only be used on OSN 3500. When the crossover capacity is 40Gbit/s or 80Gbit/s, the SLQ16 board does not work properly on the equipment. Because SXCSA is a multi-board ID single board, if the starting logical single board is a UXCSA single board, the system automatically defaults to a UXCSA instead of a SXCSA single board, so it is not possible to create a logical board position for SLQ16.

Operation steps

  1. Query the physical and logical veneers of device slot 9 and slot 10, and find that both the physical and logical veneers are UXCSA.
  2. The customer did not change the logical board position of the crossover board after replacing the single board, resulting in this problem. Change the logical board position of the crossover board to SXCSA, and create the logical board of SLQ16 on the network management successfully.
