OSN3500 SDH Transmission Device ALS turns on but laser does not turn on

0SN3500 ALS is the laser auto shutdown alarm. When the board has enabled the laser auto shutdown function and the R_LOS alarm occurs at the optical port, then the laser will automatically shut down, and then the board will report this alarm. The alarm itself has no effect on the system, but only indicates that the laser ALS function is enabled. If the R_LOS alarm is not cleared in time after the ALS function is enabled, the turned-off laser will not be turned on. After clearing the alarm, the laser can be turned on again.

Description

The MS_RDI alarm is reported on the port of SLQ4 single board. The laser status is off and the opposite node is not receiving an optical signal. The laser on command could not be executed.

Cause Analysis

  • The command is not executed successfully
  • Laser failure
  • Other reasons

Operation Procedure

  1. Turn on the laser using the webmaster, and the laser fails to turn on.
    1. Select the network element where the laser is located, right-click and select "Network Element Manager".
    2. Select the optical interface board where the laser is located, and in the function tree, select "Configuration > SDH Interface".
    3. Select "By Single Board/Port (Channel)", and set the "Laser Switch" status to "On".
  2. Query the single board alarm.
    1. Select the board where the laser is located, right-click it, and select "Alarm Browse".
    2. Check the alarm information in the "Current Alarms" tab. The port is found to have R_LOS alarm.
  3. Clear the R_LOS alarm and turn the laser back on. The laser turns on normally.


    Description:
    Clearing the R_LOS alarm can be done in two ways:
    • Alarm Reversal. Set "Reverse Status" to "Enable" in "Element Manager > Function Tree > Alarms > Alarm Reversal".
    • Block the R_LOS alarm.
      1. Select "Alarm > Alarm Mask Settings" in the Function Tree.
      2. In "Alarm Mask Settings", select the "R_LOS" alarm.
      3. Double-click the "Mask Status" column of the R_LOS alarm and select "Mask".


  4. Use network management to query network element alarms without abnormal alarms.

Reference Information

The Turn off laser by R_LOS alarm function is off by default. When this function is enabled, the priority of the R_LOS alarm is higher than the priority of the Open Laser command. The Open Laser command is not executed in the presence of the R_LOS alarm. After clearing the alarm, the laser can be turned on normally.
