The OSN3500 completed the creation of the stream based on the Ethernet service created. After binding the flow to the CAR, it was found that the CAR did not work (from the meter, the transmit bandwidth of the meter was still equal to the receive bandwidth of the meter).
Cause Analysis
Possible causes are:
- CAR is not enabled Even after binding the stream to CAR, if CAR is not enabled, CAR has no effect on the stream.
- The type of flow created does not match the type of service. The point-to-point EPL service in this example should be configured with a flow type of Port Flow.
- If there is a single board that does not support configuring the flow type as port flow, it is possible that the service message sent does not match the configured VLAN + priority, so CAR has no effect on the flow.

Phenomenon Description
A unidirectional point-to-point EPL service from PORT1 to PORT2 is configured on the same single board, as shown in Figure 1.

Create a flow in PORT1 with the flow type of Port+VLAN+Priority.
Configure CAR, set CIR=PIR=10M bit/s. Bind the flow to CAR. Use SmartBits to send at a rate higher than 10M bit/s, but find that the received bandwidth is still equal to the meter send bandwidth.
Procedure
- Possible Cause 1: CAR is not enabled.
- Enable CAR.
- Right-click on the network element icon in the main view and select "Network Element Manager".
- Select the corresponding Ethernet board in the navigation tree, and select "Configuration > Qos Management > Flow Management" in the function tree.
- Select the CAR Configuration tab.
- Set the Enable Status to Enable.
- Enable CAR.
- Possible cause 2: The created flow type and service type do not match.
Re-create the flow type (port flow) that matches the business type, and then bind the flow and CAR.
- Create the stream.
- Right-click on the network element icon in the main view and select Network Element Manager.
- Select the corresponding Ethernet board in the navigation tree, select "Configuration > Qos Management > Stream Management" in the function tree, and click
. - Select the Stream Configuration tab.
- Click New. Configure the properties in the New Flow dialog box that pops up according to the completed flow plan and the parameter description of the flow.
- Click OK to bring up the Result dialog box, which indicates that the flow was created successfully.
- Bind the stream and the CAR.
- Right-click on the network element icon in the main view and select Network Element Manager.
- Select the corresponding Ethernet board in the navigation tree, select "Configuration > Qos Management > Flow Management" in the function tree, and click
. - Select the Stream Configuration tab.
- Select the flow that needs to be bound, and select the created CAR, CoS ID, and Shaping in the corresponding drop-down menus of Bind CAR, Bind CoS, and Bind Shaping. ID, CoS ID, and Shaping ID in the drop-down menus of "Bind CAR", "Bind CoS", and "Bind Shaping".
- Click "Apply" and the "Result" dialog box will pop up, indicating that the binding is successful.
- Create the stream.
- Possible cause 3: The service message sent does not match the configured VLAN + priority.
- Select the corresponding board in the Element Manager, and then select "Configuration > Ethernet Service > Ethernet LAN Service" in the Function Tree.
- Check whether the VLAN priorities and service messages match. If they do not match, reconfigure the VLAN priorities.
Reference Information
The same port can only bind channels of the same level.
