The OSN3500 XCE single board supports functions and features such as service scheduling, clock input and output, and so on. the functions and features of the XCE are shown below:
- Supports VC-3 or VC-12 low-order crossover.
- Provides flexible scheduling capability for services, supporting crossover, multicast, and broadcast services.
- Supports 1+1 hot backup for single board, and the protection mode is non-recovery inversion by default, and can be configured as recovery inversion.
- Provide communication function with other single boards.
Communication between the expansion subrack and the main subrack is abnormal due to the failure of the expansion subrack backup XCE single board. This problem can be solved by replacing the XCE single board.

Phenomenon Description
An OptiX OSN 3500 device with an expansion subrack has an abnormal AUX board on the expansion subrack, and the communication on the EXT port fails, resulting in the main subrack and the expansion subrack not being able to communicate through the Ethernet channel, but the service is normal. Connect the ETH, COM, and EXT ports on the AUX board, and find that except for the STAT indicator, which is green, all other indicators are gray, and the PQ1 board on the expansion subrack reports the BD_STASTUS alarm.
Cause Analysis
- Inverted pins appear on the part of the expansion subrack backplane corresponding to the SCC (17, 18) slots.
- The part of the expansion subrack backplane that corresponds to the AUX (37) slot has inverted pins.
- A backward pin appears in the part of the expansion subrack backplane that corresponds to the XCE (59, 60) slot.
- XCE board failure on the expansion subrack.
Procedure
- Check the pin pins corresponding to slots 17 and 18 on the backplane of the expansion subrack, and confirm that the pin pins are normal and the fault has not disappeared.
- Unplug the AUX board from the expansion subrack and check the pin on the backplane of the expansion subrack corresponding to slot 37 to make sure that the pin is normal and the fault has not disappeared.
- Pull out the XCE (59) board from the expansion subrack, the fault disappears. Check the pin on the backplane of the expansion subrack corresponding to slot 59 and find that the pin is normal. Confirm that the spare XCE board on the expansion subrack is damaged, replace the XCE board and the fault disappears.
