Phenomenon Description

Network: A (11-SL64) ------ (8-SL64) B (11-SL64) ------ (8-SL64) C (11-SL64) --- D --- A, OSN 3500 two-fiber bi-directional STM-64 ring. As shown in Figure 1.

Create an E1 service from A (2-PQ1-1) to C (2-PQ1-1), using VC4 1. Thereafter, there is an HP_UNEQ alarm on the 8-SL64-1-1 channel at the pass-through node B, 8-SL64-1-1. Querying the C2 byte, it is found that the C2 byte received on channel 8-SL64-1-1 at site B is 0, but the C2 byte sent on channel 11-SL64-1-1 at site A is 0x02. The C2 byte sent by site A is not the same as the C2 byte received at site B.

Cause Analysis

There are two possible causes:
  • Service configuration error.
  • Software problem.

Procedure

  1. Check the history alarms and find that the SL64 board in slot 8 of site B has a BD_STATUS alarm.
  2. Go to activate the service at site B.
  3. After activating the service at site B again, the HP_UNEQ alarm disappears.

Reference Information

Cause: When the SL64 board is offline, data cannot be downloaded to the board at the same time.

Recommendation: Do not create services when the BD_STATUS alarm is reported on the single board.
