V5 byte mapping mismatch after OSN3500 upgrade causes service disruption

In the networking scenario of OptiX OSN equipment, if the V5 byte mapping mode of the EFS0 single boards of the two end network elements is found to be mismatched after the EFS0 single board software is upgraded, the ALM_GFP_dLFD and LP_SLM_VC12 alarms are reported, and the service is not interrupted. When OptiX OSN equipment is docked with equipment from other vendors, if the V5 byte mapping mode of the single boards at the two ends of the docking is found to be mismatched after the EFS0 single board software upgrade, the service may be interrupted. After setting the V5 byte mapping mode of the single boards at both ends in the same way, the alarm ends and the service is opened.

Phenomenon Description

In a networking scenario of OptiX OSN devices, the EFS0 board on a network element is configured with Ethernet service not available, and ALM_GFP_dLFD and LP_SLM_VC12 alarms are reported on the EFS0 board, but the service is not interrupted. When the OptiX OSN equipment interfaces with equipment from other vendors, the EFS0 board on the local network element is configured with Ethernet service that is not available, and the EFS0 board reports ALM_GFP_dLFD and LP_SLM_VC12 alarms, and the service is interrupted.

Cause Analysis

Check the V5 byte mode of the EFS0 board, the outgoing mode is set to GFP (0x0D) mode, and the incoming mode is set to 0x02 mode. On the same port, the VC-12 time slots of 1-10, the V5 real receipts are 0x02, and the VC-12 time slots of 11-14, the V5 real receipts are 0x07, and the services configured on the 11-14 time slots are not available. The cause of the failure may be due to the inconsistency of the V5 byte mapping mode settings of the local end network element and the opposite end network element.

  1. Check that the V5 byte mapping mode of the upgraded EFS0 board is set to "GFP Mapping", and check that the V5 byte mapping mode of the peer board is set to "Asynchronous".
