Phenomenon Description

The OSN device provides VC-3 level service for the customer, which is mapped from the PL3 board to the SL64 board, and the customer feedbacks that the PL3 board reports P_LOS alarms for 30 consecutive seconds on a certain day, and the service is affected.

Cause analysis

The possible causes of the problem are listed below and need to be investigated one by one.
  • Faulty interface board PL3 or loose slots
  • Poor equipment grounding
  • Loose DDF shelf connection
  • Cables from the DDF shelf to the device exceed the length supported by the single board

Procedure

Huawei OSN3500 reports P_LOS as a PDH interface signal lossalarm. The main cause of the P_LOS alarm is that the deployment of the relay cable is too long, and the OSN3500 equipment has strict requirements for the length of the relay cable in the PDH service.

  1. Check the interface board corresponding to the PL3 single board, confirm that the interface board is inserted correctly, and rule out the interface board failure.
  2. Check the equipment interface and DDF rack connection, no abnormality is found, and rule out these two reasons.
  3. Check the cable length from the DDF frame to the location of the device, found that the cable length is more than 70 meters, adjust the location of the device so that the cable length is less than 50 meters, the alarm disappears.
