Phenomenon Description
As shown in Figure 1, site 1 is a gateway network element, and there are only aggregation services between other sites and site 1. The clock source of site 1 is an external clock source, and the other sites track the westbound line clock source. An anomaly occurs in the service between site 1 and site 6, and the PQ1 boards at both sites report LPBBE and LPES performance events, and there are also error codes on the channel that generates the performance events. Also, historical alarms show that site 6 has reported TEMP_OVER alarms over time.
Cause Analysis
Site 1 and 6 reported performance events, the problem may occur on site 1, 5 and 6, which can be localized by loopback operation. Site 6 has reported a temperature alarm, which may be a high ambient temperature, resulting in a failure of the PQ1 or EXCSA veneer.
Procedure
- Loop back internally to the SL16 veneer at site 5, and the performance event on site 1 disappears. Once the inner loopback is removed, the performance events reappear again. This indicates that the problem should be on site 5 or 6.
- Outer loopback to SL16 veneer at site 6, the performance event on site 1 disappears. Once the outer loopback is released, the performance events reappear again. This indicates that the problem should be at site 6.
- After replacing the PQ1 and SL16 boards at site 6 with spare boards, the performance events still exist.
- It is certain that the crossover unit has failed. After replacing the EXCSA board, the performance event disappeared. Due to the failure of the air conditioner at site 6, the space in the server room is small and the ambient temperature is too high, resulting in damage to the crossover unit.
