When channelized STM-1 services need to be transported over the PSN network, the SDH overhead can also be transported over dedicated CES services, in addition to the channelized STM-1 service netload, which can be transported over CES services.
As shown in Figure 1, the CES service for transmitting SDH overhead is encapsulated in the CESoPSN format, except that the service netload is no longer a single 64 kbit/s time slot but a single SDH overhead. Other than that, the message format of the CES service transmitting SDH overhead and the CES service transmitting channelized STM-1 are the same.
