The EFT8 single-board metrics include Ethernet performance metrics, mechanical metrics, and power consumption.

Description:

The following is an example of the N1 version to test the EFT8 single-board throughput, overload packet loss rate, delay, and back-to-back metrics.

The test environment for the EFT8 single-board throughput, overload packet loss rate, and delay metrics is shown in Figure 1.

The test environment of EFT8 single-board back-to-back metrics is shown in Figure 2.

Table 2, Table 3, Table 4 and Table 5 list the throughput, overload packet loss rate, delay and back-to-back metrics of EFT8 single board, respectively.

Description:
  • The test environment configuration and networking are different, and the VC services bound to the VCG side are different, resulting in different metrics values, which are based on the actual environment test values.
  • The following metrics are configured for EPL services with 63 VC-12 test values bound to the FE port.
  • The data network performance analyzer uses SmartBits. The following test values are the test results of SmartApplication software in SmartBits instrument.
  • The test results depend on the SmartApplication settings, and the measurement results in the table are the values displayed by the meter.
  • In the table of each index of the single board, for example: "(01,01,01)", it indicates the device number, slot number and port number of the SmartBits meter in turn. "(01,01,01) to (01,01,02)" and "(01,01,02) to (01,01,01)" represent the forward test value and reverse test value. Please refer to "SmartApplications Help" for the detailed description of each setting parameter.

Table 2 lists the EFT8 single-board throughput metrics. The data in the table is collected in SmartApplication with the following settings:

  • It needs to be tested under the condition of configuring point-to-point pass-through service without enabling flow control.
  • The allowable packet loss rate for the test is set to 0% and the resolution is set to 0.1%.
  • The test time is set to 60 seconds.

Table 3 lists the EFT8 single board overload packet loss rate metrics. The data in the table is collected in SmartApplication with the following settings:

  • Point-to-point pass-through service needs to be configured and tested without enabling flow control.
  • The test traffic starts at throughput and increments to 100% traffic in 10% steps.
  • The test time is set to 60 seconds.

Table 4 lists the EFT8 single board latency metrics. The data in the table is collected in SmartApplication with the following settings:

  • Point-to-point pass-through service needs to be configured and tested without enabling flow control.
  • The test time is set to 60 seconds.
  • There are two types of delay: Cut Through and Store Forward, Cut Through calculates the difference between the time when the first bit of the sent frame reaches the output port of the DUT and the time when the first bit of the sent frame reaches the input port of the DUT, Store Forward calculates the difference between the time when the first bit of the sent frame reaches the output port of the DUT and the time when the last bit of the sent frame reaches the output port of the DUT. Store Forward calculates the difference between the time when the first bit of the sent frame reaches the output port of the DUT and the time when the last bit of the sent frame reaches the input port of the DUT. In the table, the index CT is the test value under Cut Through, and S&F is the test value under Store Forward.

Table 5 lists the EFT8 veneer back-to-back metrics. The data in the table is collected in SmartApplication with the following settings:

  • It needs to be tested under the condition of configuring point-to-point pass-through service without enabling flow control.
  • Set SmartApplication software parameters: frame length from 64 bytes to 1518 bytes, packet rate is 100%, test time is 2s, and the number of repetitions is more than 50.
  • The test traffic is set to line speed.
  • The test time is set to 10 seconds.
