Optix OSN1500 Query Optical Power
Too high or too low optical power will generate error codes or damage optical devices, which will affect the service. Query the optical power of single boards regularly to find and locate abnormal optical power failure points in time.
Prerequisite
- The user has the privilege of network administrator in the "Maintainer Group" or above.
- A single board has been created.
- Network element performance monitoring has been enabled.
Operating Procedure
- Double-click the Main Topology icon in the Workbench view to enter the main topology diagram.
- Select the network element you want to query, right-click it, and select "Network Element Manager" to enter the "Network Element Manager" window.
- Select the board you want to query in the Network Element Manager, and then select "Configuration > Optical Power Management" in the Function Tree.
- Click "Query", and then click "Close" in the pop-up "Operation Result" dialog box.
Description:- The "Input Optical Power (dBm)" refers to the optical power value of the receiving port.
- "Output Optical Power (dBm)" refers to the optical power value of the transmit port.
- "Input reference value (dBm)" refers to the optical power reference value of the receive port.
- "Output reference value (dBm)" refers to the optical power reference value of the transmit port.
- "Input Reference Optical Power Lower Threshold (dBm)" refers to the lower threshold of the input optical power, i.e., the optical reception sensitivity.
- "Input Reference Optical Power Upper Threshold (dBm)" refers to the upper threshold of the input optical power, i.e., the overload optical power.
Reference Information
Optical Power Reference ValuesInput and output optical power values for various single boards, see Hardware Description.
Optical Power WarningWhen the single board detects that the actual optical power deviates from the reference value by a certain range, a warning is displayed.
- The difference between the optical power value and the reference value is more than 4dB, which is displayed as "serious warning".
- The difference between the optical power value and the reference value is more than 2dB and less than 4dB, it will be displayed as "general warning".
When the single board detects that the actual input optical power is higher than the "input optical power upper threshold" or lower than the "input optical power lower threshold", it will report that the input optical power is too high and the input optical power is too low.
In order to avoid the actual optical power exceeding the overload point and sensitivity index of the single board, the threshold of the input optical power over and input optical power under alarm of the network management leaves a certain margin on the basis of the overload point and sensitivity of the single board.
The recommended value of the margin in the project is "high 3 low 5":
- Set the "input optical power upper threshold" to be 5dB less than the optical interface overload optical power index value.
- Set the "Input optical power lower threshold" to be 3dB greater than the receiver sensitivity index value of the optical interface.
