Optix OSN1500 Reset Single Board
There are two ways to reset the single board: soft reset and hard reset. Different reset methods can be used according to different scenarios.
Impact on the system
Soft reset operation on N1EFS4, N1EFS0, N2EFS0, N2EGS2, N2EMR0, and N2EGR2 boards will cause service interruption; soft reset operation on other boards will not affect the running service.
A hard reset operation on a single board will affect the running service.
The impact of a master board reset on the system is mainly the interruption of communication between the network management and the master board, and between the master board and other boards.
Background information
- Soft reset of the single board
The FPGA is not updated during a soft reset of the single board. The configuration data in the memory of the master single board is not lost. When a fault occurs, a soft reset is first recommended to reset the veneer.
- Soft reset via U2000. It is suitable for remote maintenance and requires normal communication between the main control single board and the network management.
- For the main control board, you can press the "RESET" button on the main control board to soft reset. Applicable to on-site maintenance, or the main control board and the network management can not communicate.
- Hard reset of single boardWhen the single board hard reset, the FPGA will be updated. Configuration data in the memory of the master single board that is not saved to flash memory in time is lost. A hard reset of a non-master single-board will affect the service. When the fault still exists after resetting the veneer by soft reset, you can reset the veneer by hard reset.
Description:
On OptiX OSN 3500/7500/7500 II, a hard reset of the SCC/SCA single board does not affect the service. on OptiX OSN 1500, a hard reset of the CXL single board causes the network element service interruption. cxl is a crossover, master, and optical interface combined single board, and a hard reset of any module on the single board synchronizes the reset of all other modules.
- Hard reset the master control board through U2000. It is suitable for remote maintenance and requires normal communication between the master control veneer and the network management.
- Plugging and unplugging the main control board can hard reset it. Applicable to on-site maintenance, or when the main control board and the network management can not communicate.
- Hard reset other boards through U2000. For remote maintenance, it is required that the communication between the main control single board and the network management is normal, and the communication between the main control single board and this single board is also normal.
- Plugging and unplugging a non-master control veneer can hard reset it. Applicable to on-site maintenance, or when the master control single board and the single board cannot communicate.
Operation Procedure
- Double-click the Main Topology icon in the Workbench view to enter the main topology diagram.
- Double-click the icon of the network element that needs to perform single board reset on the main topology map to open the board position map of the network element.
- Select the single board that needs to be reset and right-click to bring up the shortcut menu.
- Select "Soft Reset" or "Hard Reset".
- Select "OK" in the pop-up "Warning" dialog box, and click "Close" in the pop-up "Result" dialog box. Click "Close" in the "Result" dialog box.
