Optix Metro1000 Linear Multiplexing Segment Protection Applications
Linear Multiplexing Segment 1+1 protection and Linear Multiplexing Segment 1:N protection are similar in application in that the protection line is used to protect the services on the working line. Linear Multiplexing Segment 1:N protection versus Linear Multiplexing Segment 1+1 protection allows the protected line to protect up to 5 working service lines and carry additional services.
As shown in Figure 1, NE1 and NE2 form a point-to-point network.
- For linear multiplexing segment 1+1 protection, under normal conditions, the working service signals are transmitted on the working line and the protection line, and the receiving end elects to receive the service signals on the working line. When the working line between NE1 and NE2 fails, the receiving end selects and receives the service signal on the protection line.
- For multiplexing segment 1:1 protection, under normal conditions, the working service signal is transmitted on the working line, and additional services can be carried on the protection line. When the working line between NE1 and NE2 fails, the working service is inverted to the protected line for transmission. Description:
