Introduction to Optix Metro1000 Linear Multiplexing Segment Protection
Linear multiplexed segment protection utilizes the multiplexed segment overhead (MSOH) K1 and K2 bytes to achieve automatic protection inversion to protect services. The linear multiplexed segment protection supported by OptiX 155/622H includes 1+1 protection and 1:N protection.
Optix Metro1000 1+1 Linear Multiplexing Segment Protection
1+1 linear multiplexed segment protection has one working channel and one protection channel. Services are dual-transmitted to the working channel and the protection channel at the source end, and the working channel services are selected for reception at the host end. When the working channel is faulty, the protection channel service is selected at the host end.The application of 1+1 linear multiplexing segment protection is shown in Figure 1.
Optix Metro1000 1:N Linear Multiplexing Segment Protection
The 1:N linear multiplexing segment protection has N working channels and 1 protection channel. Normal services are transmitted on the working channel and additional services can be transmitted on the protection channel. When a working channel fails, the services on that channel are switched to the protection channel, and the additional services on the protection channel are interrupted. The application of 1:N Linear Multiplexing Segment Protection is shown in Figure 2.
Protocol Standards for Linear Multiplexing Segment Protection
The protocol standards followed for linear multiplex segment protection include:- ITU-T Recommendation G.841 Types and characteristics of SDH network protection architectures
- ITU-T Recommendation G.842 Cooperation of the SDH network protection structure
