Optix OSN1500 Configuring Clock Source Protection
In a complex clocked network, all network elements need to be configured for clock protection. After setting the clock source of a network element and specifying the clock priority, enabling the standard SSM protocol or extended SSM protocol prevents the network element from tracking the wrong clock source.
Prerequisites
The user has "Network Element Operator" or higher privileges as a network administrator.
Steps
Select a network element in the Element Manager, and then select "Configuration > Clock > Physical Layer Clock > Clock Subnet Settings" in the Function Tree.
Select the "Clock Subnet" tab and click "Query" to query the existing parameter settings.
Select Enable Standard SSM Protocol or Enable Extended SSM Protocol.
Description:
Each network element in the same clock protection subnet needs to select the same SSM protocol.
Set the subnet number of the clock subnet to which the network element belongs.
Description:
Network elements tracking the same clock source should be assigned the same subnet number.
Optional: If the Extended SSM protocol is enabled, you also need to set the clock ID of the clock source.
Click Apply. Click Close in the Result dialog box that pops up.
Optional: If you specify a clock ID for the line clock source of the network element, select the Clock ID Enable State tab and set the Enable State of the line port to Enable. Click Apply. Click Close in the Result dialog box that pops up.
