- Query the COMMUN_FAIL alarm parameter through the network management or navigator command :alm-get-curdata, and confirm the specific cause of the failure according to the alarm parameter, and the meaning of each parameter is as follows:

Parameter 1
Indicates the port number, fixed at 0x01.
Parameter 2, Parameter 3
Indicates the channel number on which the alarm is generated. Parameter 2 is fixed to 0x00, and the meaning of parameter 3 is as follows:- 0x01 indicates RS485 channel 1.
- 0x02 indicates RS485 channel 2.
- 0x03 indicates inter-board Ethernet communication.
- 0x04 indicates inter-subrack Ethernet emergency channel.
If parameter 3 of the Optix OSN3500 COMMUN_FAIL alarm is 0x01 or 0x02, it means that channel 1 or 2 of the 485 communication of the single board is not available. If only one single board reports the alarm, it may be the fault of the single board; if more than one single board reports the alarm, it may be the fault of a single board that causes the 485 bus to fail.
Operation Steps
- If the alarm is reported on only one board, replace the board directly.
- If the alarm is reported on more than one single board, check whether the dual-crossover is configured, and the 485 communication depends on the dual-crossover board.
- If dual-crossover has been configured, you can collect the historical alarms, operation records, and abnormal events from the network management side, and compare and analyze the time of the first alarm with the time of the operation records and abnormal event records, and the single board that reported the alarm first or the single board that was unplugged or replaced at the earliest time of the alarm report has the greatest possibility of failure, and it is prioritized to be replaced.
- If the fault still exists, you can only unplug the boards one by one to investigate the faulty boards and verify whether the slots are inverted.
