Operating Procedures

• Cause 1: Veneer failure, resulting in the veneer not starting.
  1. Hard reset or directly unplug the faulty veneer.
  2. Check whether the veneer is working normally, if not, please select a spare board with exactly the same parameters as the faulty veneer, and replace the veneer.
• Reason 2: The motherboard is inverted or faulty, resulting in the single board does not start.
  1. Contact Huawei engineers to replace the motherboard.
  2. Check whether the veneer board starts working normally, if it does not recover, turn to other reasons.
• Reason 3: The software version does not match, resulting in the single board not starting.
  1. Query the main control board and business board software version, to determine whether the two matching.
  2. If the versions of the main control board and business board software do not match, contact Huawei engineers to upgrade the corresponding single-board software.
  3. Check whether the single board is working normally, and if it is not restored, turn to other reasons.
• Reason 4: The external power supply fails to recognize the single board, resulting in the single board not starting.
  1. Disconnect the power switch on the DC distribution box, connect the positive pole of the multimeter to the power terminal NEG (-) of the DC distribution box, and connect the negative pole to the power terminal RTN (+). Measure the voltage between power terminals RTN(+) and NEG(-), which should meet the following requirements.
     • If the standard voltage of the input power supply is -48V, the power supply voltage should be between -41V and -60V.
     • If the standard voltage of the input power supply is -60V, the power supply voltage should be between -51V and -72V.

     If ......	then ......
     the voltage between power supply terminals RTN (+) and NEG (-) does not meet the requirements.	Continue to the next step.
     Voltage between power supply terminals RTN(+) and NEG(-) meets requirements.	Turn to other causes.

  2. Contact a power supply engineer for assistance with external power supply troubles.
  3. Check to see if the veneer starts normally, if not restored, go to other causes.
• Cause 5: The network element power supply module fails, resulting in the single board not starting.
  1. Replace the device power supply board.
  2. Check whether the single board starts normally, if it does not recover, turn to other reasons.
• Cause 6: Human configuration error or failure to configure the logical single board, resulting in the single board does not start.
  1. Check whether the slot of the single board is correctly inserted and placed.

     If ......	then ......
     the veneer insertion slot is incorrect.	Adjust to the correct free slot and continue to the next step.
     The single board insertion slot is correct.	Turn to other reasons.

  2. Check whether the faulty board position is configured with a logical single board.

     If ......	then ......
     the board is not configured with a logical board.	In the "Network Element Panel Diagram", right-click the corresponding slot and add a single board as required.
     The board is configured with a logical board.	Turn to other reasons.

  3. Check whether the veneer starts normally, if it is not restored, go to other causes.
• Cause 7: The veneer does not start due to abnormal temperature.
  1. Check whether the fan operation status is normal, if the status is abnormal, replace the fan.
  2. Check whether the dust net is free, if there is more dust accumulation, clean the dust net or replace the dust net.
  3. Check the ambient temperature of the computer room. If it is higher than 45℃, use cooling equipment to reduce the ambient temperature.
  4. Check whether the veneer is normally open, if it is not restored, turn to other reasons.
