Phenomenon Description

15 VC-12 services are created on STM-1 frame in the order of number 1 to 15, and then when VC-3 service is created on the 2nd VC-3 of this STM-1 frame, an alarm is generated to indicate a time slot conflict.

Cause Analysis

Because the policy of VC12 timeslot numbering in the sequential mode (ITU-T) was selected, the 15 VC-12 services created first already occupied the 2nd VC-3, and therefore a timeslot conflict error occurred when the VC-3 service was created on the 2nd VC-3 again.

Procedure

Right-click on a network element in the T2000 and select "Service Configuration".

According to the needs of service configuration and customer planning, click "Options" to select "Sequential Method (ITU-T)" or "Interleaved Method" to determine the policy for VC12 time slot numbering.

Based on the selected VC12 time slot numbering policy, create the corresponding service.

When using the T2000 to create VC-12 and VC-3 services, be careful to configure the services accordingly based on the policy selected for the VC12 timeslot numbering. there are two ways to do the policy for the VC12 timeslot numbering:

Sequential way (ITU-T): VC-12s numbered 1, 4, 7, 10......, etc. belong to the 1st VC-3, VC-12s numbered 2, 5, 8, 11......, etc. belong to the 2nd VC-3, and so on.

Interpolation: VC-12s numbered 1 through 21 belong to the 1st VC-3, VC-12 time slots numbered 22 through 43 belong to the 2nd VC-3, and so on.
