OptiX Metro1000V3 provides a single board with packet characteristics, which can be superimposed on the packet plane on the TDM plane to realize data transmission on the dual-plane, and achieve the purpose of smooth evolution of TDM network to packet network. Access to a variety of service types, applied to the metropolitan area network, the local transmission network access layer, for large customers dedicated line access. Metro1000V3 adopts the box structure, the mainframe external dimensions: 436mm (W) × 293mm (D) × 86mm (H), in accordance with the standard design of the 19-inch, the weight of the full configuration of less than 10kg, the maximum power consumption of less than 100W. OptiX155/622H equipment consists of a box, a fan board, a power filter board, a dust screen, and a veneer board that can be inserted into the plug-in area and SDH interface unit, PDH interface unit, Ethernet interface unit, crossover unit, clock unit, master unit, and public service unit. Composition,.
Problem description
An engineer upgrades a Metro1000V3 device one day from version 5.37.02.22 to 5.37.04.12. The device was upgraded using Package Load Toolkit. Engineer feedback upgrade fully in accordance with the upgrade guide operation, upgrade using the package loaded also prompted success, the steps without any error. When the upgrade is completed, the query of other boards are upgraded successfully, only one EFSC board still shows version 2.21, the actual package for the 2.42 version. The engineer extracted the EFSC single board software from the simulation package and loaded it separately using Toolkit, and after the upgrade was normal, it still showed that this EFSC was still version 2.21.
Processing
Use debug command to delete ne.ini and single board software on OFS2, reset single board and then use it, detailed steps are as follows:
1) Enable the debug command, command:ethn-debug-enable:enable
2) Delete the single-board software and ni.ini file on ofs2, command:
:ethn-debug:4, "test remove ofs2hwx e.ini"
:ethn-debug:4, "test remove ofs2hwx"efs10.dlb"
3) Hard reset the board, command: :cfg-reset-board:4,hard
4) Query the board version information, command::cfg-get-bdverinfo:4
5) disable debug command:ethn-debug-enable:disable
After deleting ofs2, EFSC shows version 2.42.
Reason for Failure
Using the analog package Toolkit to upgrade the single board software will only upgrade the software on ofs1. The returned data shows that there is an old version of the veneer software on the veneer ofs2 and a new version of the veneer software on ofs1, indicating that the veneer software has been successfully upgraded on ofs. The lab tested both sets of software for upgrading, and the software can be activated normally. Therefore the veneer on the current network is running the veneer software on ofs2 after activation. After analyzing, there are several possibilities for running the software on ofs2:
1) Use the command to force the software on ofs2 to run
2) If the software on OFS1 does not start successfully, start the software on OFS2.
3) The software running before the upgrade is the software on OFS2, after the upgrade is activated, it still runs the software on OFS2.
For the EFSC single board, it does not support the command to set which set of software is enabled, and there is no such operation in the current network, so the first possibility can be ruled out.
The lab simulates the upgrade, and the software on ofs1 can be upgraded and activated normally, so the second possibility can also be ruled out.
So the problem is that it is the ofs2 single board software that is running before the upgrade, and while the new software is successfully loaded on the ofs1 during the upgrade, it is still the software on the ofs2 that is activated and launched.
Suggestion and summary
1, how to know whether ofs1 or ofs2 is running on the network element?
The current network environment is not able to directly get the single board running is ofs1 or ofs2, need to debug line to find out.
2, under normal circumstances for this EFSC board is there two sets of software or one set of software?
Under normal circumstances, the EFSC single board is one set of software.
3、Is there any other effect on the single board and network element after deleting the software?
After deleting the single board software, the single board software will restart, during which the service will be interrupted for a while; however, it has no effect on the operation of the network element and single board afterward!
Usually the EFSC boards shipped will only load the software to the ofs1, have confirmed with the production of the batch level of a small number of boards loaded with two sets of single-board software, in the case of non-upgrade does not affect the use of single-board.
