Scenario Description
An OptiX OSN 3500 in the running state is changed from a slave rack to an expansion subrack, and hooked up to a newly built OptiX OSN 3500. However, when querying the physical board position of the new subrack, the single boards on the newly added expansion subrack can not be displayed, and the branch boards on the expansion subrack on the network management are also displayed as not being in the position.
Cause analysis
The possible causes are as follows:
- Minion rack and expansion of the sub-shelf articulation results.
- Minion Rack main control board, Minion Rack and Expansion Subrack AUX board fault.
- The branch board on the expansion subrack was not reset and did not get the correct board ID incurred.
Procedure
- Reflect on the connection status of the Minion Rack and the Expansion Subrack and confirm that it is correct.
- Soft reset the AUX boards of the main control board, the minion rack and the expansion subrack, and the problem still exists.
- According to the customary hand of fault disposal, stop pulling and inserting the absent single board to force it to hard reset. After the single board to obtain a new slot ID, back to normal.

- UXCSB and XCE connection: 9 board position of the UXCSB EXA and EXB port and 59 and 60 board position of the XCE board EXA connected to the 10 board position of the UXCSB EXA and EXB port and 59 and 60 board position of the XCE board EXB connected. As shown in Figure 1.
- The EXT port of the Minion Rack AUX board is connected to the EXT port of the Expansion Subrack AUX board. As shown in Figure 1.
- The J9 jumper of the Minion Rack AUX board is shorted and the J9 jumper of the Expansion Subrack AUX board is not shorted.
- It is recommended to follow the above steps to transform the running Minion Rack into an expansion subrack:
- Remove the main control board, circuit boards and some unused branch circuit boards.
- Connect the EXT cables of the two AUXs and remove the J9 jumper of the AUX board on the expansion subrack.
- Unplug the two feedthrough boards.
- Unplug the two XCE boards and connect the wires to the UXCSB.
The benefit of this is that after removing the two patch panels, the expansion subrack is in the no-patch mode, so the branch boards on it will stop automatic reset, and since the J9 jumper of the AUX has been removed at this time, the branch boards will get a new slot ID, that is, add 50 to the original slot ID. this sequence of operations will prevent the branch boards on the expansion subrack from being unplugged once at the end of the configuration.
