OSN3500 Mask R_LOS appears with IN_PWR_ABN alarms

OSN3500 Normally, when an optical module is not plugged in or when an optical module fails, the optical port reports the laser not installed alarm LSR_NO_FITED. however, this case does not report the LSR_NO_FITED alarm, but reports the IN_PWR_ABN alarm.

The possible reasons are as follows:

  • The received optical power is too high.
  • Single board optical interface failure.
  • Receive optical detection circuit of the optical interface board is faulty.
  • Poor contact between the optical module and the single board.
  • Optical module failure.

Operation Procedure

  1. Check the IN_PWR_ABN alarm on the network management, and determine the optical port number reporting the alarm according to the alarm parameter, and set the optical port as A, and the optical module plugged into the optical port as C. First, measure the received optical power value of optical port A with an optical power meter, which shows normal, then exclude the possibility of excessive received optical power.
  2. First of all, use the optical power meter to measure the received optical power value of optical port A. If the display is normal, the possibility of excessive received optical power is ruled out.
  3. Unplug the optical module C and insert it into the optical port B. The optical port B does not report IN_PWR_ABN alarm, so the possibility of optical module C failure is ruled out.
  4. Re-insert optical module C into optical port A, optical port A does not report IN_PWR_ABN alarm, and the input optical power is back to normal, which determines that the optical module has poor contact with the veneer.
  5. IN_PWR_ABN alarm appears on the R_LOS shield.

When OSN3500 blocks the high-level alarm R_LOS of an unused optical port on a single board, the low-level alarm IN_PWR_ABN, which is suppressed by the high-level alarm, appears. This problem can be solved by blocking the corresponding low-level alarm.

Phenomenon Description

The OptiX OSN 3500 and the OptiX OSN 1500 form an SNCP ring, and the OptiX OSN 3500 device veneer N1SLQ1 has three unused optical ports, and after the R_LOS alarm is blocked, the IN_PWR_ABN alarm appears.

Cause Analysis

If the NG-SDH product blocks out high-level alarms, low-level alarms that are suppressed by high-level alarms appear. For example, if R_LOS is blocked, IN_PWR_ABN occurs.

Procedure

  1. Block the IN_PWR_ABN alarm on the network management.
